Rock wool is an inorganic thermal insulation material made primarily from natural basalt, gabbro, and other minerals. The fibers are melted at high temperatures, drawn into fibers, and then pressed and cut. Due to its stable raw material source and reliable performance, it is widely used in building energy conservation, industrial equipment insulation, and sound insulation systems, and is one of the most common mineral wool materials.
From a properties perspective, the most significant characteristics of rock wool are its strong non-combustibility and excellent high-temperature resistance. The raw ore itself has fire resistance, allowing rock wool to maintain its structure even at high temperatures, making it difficult to burn. Therefore, it is often classified as a Class A non-combustible material. In the construction industry, this characteristic makes rock wool an important safety material in exterior wall insulation, roof insulation, and fireproof partitions.

However, moisture prevention is crucial during the use of rock wool. Although rock wool itself does not readily absorb water, prolonged exposure to a humid environment may affect its insulation performance.
