LNG production has become one of the key development projects in various countries. Due to the characteristics of ultra-low temperature (-162℃) storage of LNG, the selection of cooling materials for LNG pipelines has become a problem faced by the industry. Mainstream LNG pipeline cooling materials are as follows:

Polyurethane foam is a common insulation material for LNG pipelines. It has good insulation properties and corrosion resistance, usually with densities between 60 and 80K.

Glass wool insulation material is often used for high temperature refractory insulation, can withstand up to 800℃ temperature. Glass wool has good thermal insulation, sound insulation and fire resistance.

Polyurethane composite insulation material adopts multi-layer composite structure. Besides polyurethane foam, it also includes aluminum foil, fiber net and other materials. This insulation material not only has insulation properties, but also can effectively resist weathering and corrosion.

LNG pipeline cooling mainly adopts multi-layer insulation structure. Generally speaking, the thermal insulation structure of LNG pipeline mainly includes the pipeline body, thermal insulation materials, external protection materials and supports.

In the insulation structure of LNG pipelines, the body of the pipeline is made of steel, which is normally enhanced by a series of surface treatments to enhance its corrosion resistance. The insulation material is made of polyurethane foam and other materials to seal and fill the outside of the pipeline. The external protection material is made of special epoxy resin, glass steel and other composite materials, which plays the role of relieving external force and enhancing pipeline protection. Brackets are made of steel or rubber and are used to hold pipes in place. This multi-layer insulation structure can effectively ensure the coolant (LNG) in the pipeline at low temperature.

What kind of LNG insulation material is selected depends on the actual application environment and demand. It is important to select certified insulation materials to ensure safety during pipeline transportation.
