What are the differences between rock wool and glass wool construction technology

As we all know, rock wool and glass wool are used in building exterior wall insulation materials, so the construction process between the two are much the same.  According to the main construction process of the external thermal insulation system, the process can be divided into: construction preparation, base surface treatment, wiring, installation of the starting bracket, paste insulation board, installation of anchor bolts, preparation of plaster mortar, wipe the bottom plaster mortar laying glass fiber net, external finishing operations and so on.   


First, construction preparation  


When rock wool and glass wool enter the construction site, keep away from fire, pay attention to ventilation and moistureproof, do not rain, and should be stored in the storehouse or shed.  


Two, base surface treatment  


In the base surface treatment, the residue and demoulding agent of the wall should be cleaned up, and the out-of-tolerance part of the wall flatness should be chiseled or repaired.  Equipment and piping fittings protruding from the wall shall be installed, window frames, balcony rails and embedded parts shall be installed.  


Three,  reel thread out


In the Yin Angle, Yang Angle, balcony fence board and door and window openings and other parts, hanging vertical line or horizontal line control line.  


Four, install the starting bracket  


In order to effectively protect glass wool and rock wool insulation materials, so that glass wool and rock wool are installed on the same level, the starting bracket can be installed at their starting position.  


Five, paste insulation board  


Insulation material paste is divided into strip sticking method and point frame method, when the flatness of the base surface is good, stick with strip sticking method.  When the flatness of the base surface is poor, the point frame method is used to paste, and the adhesive is applied around the insulation material and the plum blossom point is applied in the middle.  When pasting, attention should be paid to the bonding area rate, which is not less than 40%.  When stick board, should knead gently, even extrusion board surface, every stick a board, with 2 meters by the ruler will be adjacent board flat.  


Six, install anchor bolts  


After the insulation material is pasted for 24 hours, the anchor bolt can be installed. According to different grassroots walls, the corresponding anchor bolt and construction method can be selected.  


Seven, with the bottom coating mortar laying glass fiber net  


Smear the bottom coating glue evenly on the surface of thermal insulation material with a thickness of about 3mm. Place the glass fiber net on the coating glue and flatten it from the center to all sides with the trowel. In case of lap bonding, the lap width shall not be less than 100mm.  


Eight, outside finishing operation  


When the plaster layer reaches the finishing construction requirements, the outer finishing operation can be carried out. The specific construction method and thickness shall be carried out according to relevant construction standards.  


But because of the difference between rock wool and glass wool in raw materials, structure and bulk density, their construction difficulty and construction technology are slightly different.  In particular, the glass fiber structure of glass wool is finer and softer than the fiber structure of rock wool.  In the actual construction process, glass wool insulation material is not easy to fall off, affecting the safety of construction personnel.  At the same time, because of the large bulk density of rock wool, the glass wool under the same volume is lighter, and the actual construction process is more convenient.  



With the acceleration of urban construction process, energy conservation, environmental protection, sustainable development is constantly put forward, glass wool, rock wool and other thermal insulation materials are more and more widely used.  In addition to being widely used in building exterior wall insulation system, hVAC, industrial high temperature resistant pipes, steel structure sound absorption and sound insulation are also widely used in the field, with broad market prospects.
